Fireproof endothermic mat (insulating and absorbing heat) BST-MAT is a soft rolled material resistant to standard, hydrocarbon, jet combustion and cryogenic spill. Easy to install, suitable for complex-shaped structures in open atmospheres, including at subzero temperatures.
BST-MAT is made from biodegradable fibers with additives, including endothermic ones. In case of fire, the material prevents the protected surface from heating up and increases the fire resistance of protected structures to 120 minutes.
Application of endothermic mats
Most modern buildings and structures have steel supporting structures. Steel, in turn, conducts heat well and at temperatures above 500 degrees begins to lose strength. Without additional protection, even large steel structures are fire resistant to only 15 minutes. Endothermic mats can significantly increase this indicator, protecting metal structures from rapid heating, thereby giving time to evacuate people and begin to extinguish the fire.
The effectiveness of this fire protection method has been confirmed by operating experience and independent fire tests. Endothermic mats are especially in demand during the construction and operation of industrial facilities in the oil and gas industry.
Operating principle of BST-MAT
The operating principle of the endothermic mat BST-MAT is based on slowing down heating by retaining heat in the coating. During thermal shock, the process of absorbing heat and releasing chemically bound water begins.
Endothermic fire protection mats are resistant to standard, hydrocarbon, jet combustion, and cryogenic spills. The use of BST-MAT is effective in oil and gas production, processing plants and energy facilities.
Differences between BST-MAT and other types of fire protection
BST-MAT is designed for operating temperatures from - 60°C to + 60°C - it can be used in any climatic conditions, and installation is limited only by the temperature requirements of the joint sealant. No special equipment is required to install the endothermic mat. BST-MAT can be applied in one or several layers; interlayer drying is not required.
Unlike other fire-retardant materials, BST-MAT is easy to attach to any surface and objects of complex shape; it does not require a large amount of consumables.
Features of BST-MAT:
- Easy to cut and quickly installed.
- Designed for standard, hydrocarbon and jet combustion.
- Withstands cryogenic spill.
- Installation at sub-zero temperatures is possible.
- Installation can be combined with other work.
- Compatible with various anti-corrosion materials.
- Resistant to detergents.
Fireproof mats for metal structures. Installation
BST-MAT is supplied ready for installation. Installation is carried out using simple tools: a knife, a tape measure, a square, a brush, a rubber roller, a manual gun for applying sealant, fixing tapes and clamps. Installation is carried out in accordance with Technical Regulations No. TR 001/01 – 2021 only by qualified personnel.
- Cutting the fire-retardant material BST-MAT is carried out with a construction knife or large scissors.
- Attaching the mat to the structure is done using reinforced tape and bandage tapes.
- To seal joints, surfaces and seams, it is recommended to use fire-resistant sealant BST GERMETIK.
- A set of tools for installation: right angle ruler, tape measure, marker, rubber roller, stainless steel tape with a width of 20 mm and a thickness of 0,7 mm, as well as clamps for fixing the mat, clamp tensioner.
- BST-MAT is supplied in corrugated cardboard boxes.
- Store indoors or under cover, in conditions where
excluding mechanical damage and contamination by oils and other substances.
- Transportation and storage from -60 to +60°C.
